Paula Deen's Bread Pudding

 
                                 Recipe from Paula Deen

 Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 5 large beaten eggs

  • 2 cups milk

  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

  • 3 cups cubed Italian bread, allow to stale overnight in a bowl

  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened

  • 1 cup chopped pecans

    I don't know if you can tell but the pudding is drenched in sugar.
    It was too sweet but I couldn't stop eating it.  I will reduce the sugar to 1 cup instead of 2 the next time. 
    This is the recipe I will use if I am using french bread.
